Capricon

Capricon is the only four day fan run sci-fi and fantasy convention held in the Chicago area. Each year has a huge selection of events, some of which are based around a theme for that particular year. Capricon 33 is dedication to A.I., but there will be panels, workshops, filking, art show, dance, karaoke, dealers room, parties, con Suite, and much more happening during the four days of the convention. Guests of honor this year are:
Author Guest of Honor: Daniel H. Wilson
Artist Guest of Honor: Karen Ann Hollingsworth
Fan Guest of Honor: Helen Montgomery
Pre-reg price is $55 until Jan 15. Or $70 at the door for all four days of fun and activities.

We'll be showing up Thursday afternoon for art show set-up & possibly having dinner before going home. Depends on weather, we're commuting from Geneva.

For those who have not purchased their memberships yet, there is a special going on for the rest of the year.

You DO realize that its a FOUR day convention... so even if you miss one night, there are three others you can enjoy

I do now. I have class on Weds and Thurs but I might be able to help out in the little spare time I have.

Hrm... You know, as big of a sci-fi geek as I am, I've never actually been to a convention. I might have to plan ahead for this. I'll have to check to see if I can fit it into my budget.

do know that if you can work 12 hours at the con (And Wednesday set up and/or Sunday tear down is worth 2 hours) that you can earn your badge cost back... also if you work 4 hours a day, you can sleep in the Male Gopher Hole for free.. not guaranteed a bed, but you are guaranteed floor space. So it is economic feasible.
