Indian Key ---.10,000 Island

All paddlers must be proficient in basic skills. - Not for newbies. If you fall behind or out of your boat, the leader gets your stuff. Code of the sea. This as an incentive to keep going. Most of you know the drill. Be in the water by 8:00 to catch the tide. Approx. 14 miles round trip.

Great group of paddlers and great trip! Enjoyed all 14.6 miles of it! Thanks David for planning/leading today's trip! See you on the water!

Glad you could make it! You set the record making it to a paddle by driving over 100 miles to be in the water by 7:30 then paddling 14.6 and another - what 60 or so miles to your mom

    • Deborah R.

I know Pat is such an early time, but we wanted to get out on the tide if we could. I hope we have gotten the tide correct.

Do you monitor VHF 68? Dianne and I will have VHF's so why don't we try to touch base on the water? I'll try to hail you or you hail us. What do you think?

For Tom Longs eye's only...Tom I want you to show up for my trip about 5:00am ....In that way your be right on time with the rest of us.

Lets go boys and girls, this includes you Tom Long! Eight am is late for farm boys like yours truly and kayak trip leaders so hop out of bed and make the short trek to Everglades City. The after paddle fest could be at Camille Street, Triad, or some other place of interest. We will not let David take your stuff. If he did, he would just patch it, clean it and return it in pristine shape anyway.

This map thing is not at the right place. It is just past Everglade city on 29.

where is this? is it in Everglades city , or on 41?

    March 9, 2014

    • Deborah R.

It is in Everglade city, at the Rangers station. Go east on 41 from Naples to highway 29. Turn right go thru Everglade city to the circle. 3rd rd to right (towards Chocoluskie) just go past airport, it is the next right after airport. If you come to the Oyster House you have gone too far. Turn right into Ranger station and there is an open grassy area on the right. We will be down by the water. You should see our cars with the kayak racks on them.

Hi Lynne....guess you've got it worked out on how to get there.....When you pass the airport sign your be coming up on the ranger station soon. It will be a big open area on the right. Look for the sign...follow the road around to the grass parking lot on the right...look for kayaks....David.......my cell [masked]

Ok, found traffic circle on Google Maps and followed it around to 3rd right and down past Ec Airpark Road to intersection of Copeland Ave (29) and Oyster Bar Lane for the Everglades National Park. I assume that is the ranger station. Do I follow Oyster Bar Lane to parking/launch area or meet at ranger station? Thanks

    March 4, 2014

  • Lynne B.

Thanks, Deborah. Glad I asked. Coming too far to get lost and miss the trip.

The map directions bring me to the Big Cypress National Preserve Visitor Center (Oasis Ranger Station)--showing the same address. Will I be in the right place? Not familiar with the area. Thanks!

    March 3, 2014

    • Deborah R.

Read my directions above. Ya I think these directions that they give you are not the Ranger station we are talking about.

      March 3, 2014

  • Deborah R.

Go East on 41 till you come to Rt. 29. turn Right to Everglade City. Go through city till you come to Circle. Take 3rd rd to right on this circle. Now you are heading to Chocoluskie City. Watch for ranger station on Right. It is right after the airport rd. If you get to the Oyster house on left you have gone too far. Hope these directions get you there.

What a slave driver. I am unable to come unless I can get David to tow my daughter and grandson. They are small people and don't weigh much...
