First Sunday Fish House Paddle

The 2 Deb's will lead the 1st SUNDAY OF THE MONTH PADDLE.
9:30 am---On the Isles of Capri behind the Capri Fish House

This is a great paddle for everyone, even first-timers!  Come one, come all.  Rentals available.  Bring water & sunscreen; wear a hat & water-type clothing and shoes. Paddling begins at 9, some come early enough to unload or acquire your rental.  Hope to see you there.

Like all events, you paddle at your own risk, and this club requires that you wear your life vest.  ACA certified members will be there to assist.

AFTER UNLOADING, PARK ACROSS THE STREET, NOT ON RESTAURTANT PARKING LOT.

It sure was a group effort. Thanks everyone for helping and sticking with any newbies. Parking was managed. Even though there was about 30+ people. I even liked sitting outside at the fish house and setting around talking. Special thanks for Bob and Linda Farley for helping me carry my kayak across the road. Looking forward now to the 3rd Sunday paddle.
But I am also going to Phares Goodland trip on Wednesday the 9th. Hope everyone finds this under the Bridge of Goodland Rd. You turn left right away by the water refinery there and drive under the bridge. Any questions about getting there just call me or Phares.

I am sorry we could not stay after the ride. I would like to thank the
paddler that stayed with my wife and I on the way back.
Marg had a serious back surgery this fall and it was quite the trip for
her. I am still married---we had to rush back home to entertain some
    quests.
    Marg is feeling ok
    Thanks again

What a beautiful, albeit windy, day! Thanks so much Phares, for you sticking with me! Its official, kayakers are faster than boarders, lol! Hope to join you again soon

Phares that is a great idea to start the longer route earlier. Then we can all eat together. Also maybe we'll all meet up out there on Oats island. Then paddle back together. If we have very many new people coming across back from Oats (if the wind is bad) I may need help.

If we reverse the route and paddle fat enough maybe we can meet up at Sea Oats. Good idea.

Very happy with that Phares! Anyone wanting to go the long route will be paddles in at 9. I have a FB message with my paddle buddies :). Some just want the shorter route.

Ok, I'll be in the water in front of Capri Fish House by 9 am, probably in a red kayak, hoping others wanting to paddle the longer route non-stop( land ) will join us. It will be interesting paddling with boarders. Hope I can keep up!

Parking - If the area next to the Blue Heron is used for parking and fills up like last time, it may result in losing the use of that area for any purpose. Hopefully, this will not happen and unless there is some agreed on procedure off loading and parking will take place at the Capri Fish House. I've sent around a few emails in this regard. Deb?

One of us that is qualified to rescue follows behind. Don't worry. We also go slow, and stop at several places and let everyone catch up.

Thank you Debbie Rowland. David, I don't think I will be going on any of your "code of the sea" paddles for a long time lol. Maybe someday when I get to know these waters better.

Deb, I am not sure how many will attend this but if there are many parking may be a problem. To prevent this maybe suggest three people volunteer to offload at but the fish house as in festival order and keep the entire launch from there. And, yes I will volunteer to help.

About 5 to 6 miles. With a nice rest on the beach. Then it back to the fish house for dinner. We have a good time. Come try it. Also we have started a few new paddlers to the sport. Want to get out on the water and see the 10,000 islands of the Everglades, learn how to paddle. We go to different island sometimes. We even camp on them some times.

Can you give me an idea of how many miles this trip will be

    Thanks

    March 2, 2014

    • Deborah G W.

Hello Ed. This paddle is roughly 4 miles, but there is a 9 mile route that some paddlers will split off and accomplish. Depending on your skill level and stamina, you are welcome to follow either. We start and end at the Capri Fish House where we enjoy the "apres-paddle" eats and drinks.
