Just When You Thought It Was Safe: The Crocodilians Are Coming. Weds-4/2-6:30pm

Come take a journey from the Nile Delta to the swamps of Florida with Big Cypress National Preserve Ranger Patrick Boyce and explore the impact the leviathans of our wetlands - Crocodilians, including Alligators - have had on our collective imagination and why we just can’t imagine a world without them.  Patrick's presentation has the appropriately creepy title:

The Eyelids of the Morning!

(Reminds you of Mike Devlin, probably.)  Learn how these ancient reptiles have played a role in human culture throughout history (Think: Tarzan movies!) as well as their vital role in the Southwest Florida ecosystem.

PCPC is a free club.  No dues...JUST FUN!

PCPC meetings are regularly scheduled on the 1st Wednesday of each month at 6:30pm, in the North Collier Govt Center on Orange Blossom Drive, just off Airport-Pulling Rd and across the parking lot from the Headquarters Branch of the Collier County Public Library. Come to the left (south) corner of the Govt Center.

As always, after the meeting most of us have an after-the-meeting,-meeting at Boston Beer Garden, Green Tree Shopping Center on Immokalee Rd at the corner with Airport Rd.

WE CAN THROW A MEETING - BE THERE!!!!!!

Hope to see everybody at the 1st Sunday paddle at the Capri Fish house. Hope everyone finds a parking place. Better come early.

This is another good program you won't want to miss! Patrick takes the regular old alligator program in a different direction and turns it into a very interesting look at how alligators and crocodiles have been perceived and the roles they have played in different cultures throughout history up til more recent times in Florida. He's very entertaining and enthusiastic!!

GREAT idea Phares-- maybe you can get together with Tom & he could schedule a monthly meeting with that as the topic -- If you wouldn't mind being the speaker-- Thanks for taking the lead for all you do -- Mike

Oh, yeah. I feel a meeting topic emerging from the darkness: Unexplored and Underexplored Paddling Routes!

Thanks, sounds good Mike. Tom, you heard the man, lets schedule something.

I'd love to be there and see Tom's demo of how to catch a live crock but I will be out of town. In the meantime, why not discuss something meaningful such as the kayak launch areas.

I don't know who writes these monthly meeting promos, but whoever it is does an utterly amazing job and deserves a big raise.

What is two times zero, Tom? My math is a bit rusty.

It should equal 1 Billion Dollars.

Mike, double his salary right away. This looks pretty interesting. Gators are pretty rare in the areas I paddle. I did see a big one sunning in one of he bay to gulf creeks once. There were gators aplenty and sightings commonplace in the Wekiva River where I spent many a paddle day and learned that generally they tried to avoid me as long as I stayed in my kayak.

Come to the meeting, Phares, and you can learn how to troll for gators by dangling one leg from your kayak.
