2013 Synopsis

Ever since Joseph and Mary undertook the first journey to Bethlehem and wise men traveled under starry skies, journeys have been a part of Christmas. More often than not, families date the Christmases of their lives by recalling the destinations of their journeys. Searching for the King is the story of two journeys separated by two millennia, yet the questions faced by our two travelers are universal in time and scope. Benjamin, a young present-day American soldier stationed in the Middle East, searches for answers to questions raised by the harsh reality of war and the tragic loss of a personal friend. Mordecai, a young first-century Magi apprentice, seeks truth by studying the night sky and by listening to the lessons taught by his wise instructor Melchior. For both travelers, the way is difficult and filled with unknowns, yet both will ultimately stand in the same place: the holiest of ground where the God of the universe chose to begin the difficult, Christmas journey...where His Son would one day travel to the cross and empty tomb.
