Austrian photographer Andreas Franke attached 12 of his large surreal images encased in steel-framed plexiglass to the WWII era Coast Guard Cutter, The Mohawk sunk off the coast of Sanibel. They feature photos of the sunken ship, combined w/photographs he took of actors dressed in 1940's attire.
After four months displayed underwater on the wreck of the US Coast Guard Cutter Mohawk in the Gulf of Mexico off Sanibel Island the twelve pieces of art were removed and prepared for this first showing. Along with the Mohawk art, the exhibit includes Sinking World art from the original project which was on the wreck of the USS Vandenberg off Key West.
