This cinema classic directed by Roman Polanski and winner of six Academy Awards including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor and Best Actress, is a brilliant example of neo-noir. It’s 1937 in Los Angeles and there’s a war going on to control the municipal water supply. Jake Gittes (Jack Nicholson) is a private detective hired to find evidence that Hollis Mulwray (Darrell Zwerling), the builder of the city’s water system, is having an affair. Jake gets photos of Hollis with a young girl and thinks his job is done. But he soon finds himself embroiled in a complex web of corruption, deceit and murder along with the beautiful Evelyn Mulwray (Faye Dunaway) and Hollis’ business partner, Noah Cross (John Huston).
