Welcome to the Jungle! Bring your bike!

  • Bird Rookery Swamp Water Trust

1295 Shady Hollow Blvd., Naples, 34120, FL (map)

    26.311537 -81.636490

  • We'll be waiting for you in the parking lot with the vultures!
  • Grab your mountain bike/hybrid and meet me at Bird Rookery Swamp Trail. This Bike Ride is recommended for intermediate riders!  This is not for beginners as there will be some rough terrain.

Maybe we'll see some lions and tigers and bears.....oh my!  Well, it's doubtful, but we'll most definitely see a gator or two and some other wildlife.  This is definitely a hidden jewel in Naples.....a must see!!

This trail offers 12 miles of bike and hiking trails which are basically cut grass, including an 1800-ft boardwalk.  A 1/4-mile crushed shell path leads to an 1800-foot boardwalk, then the trails become ground level, dirt/sandy/grassy, relatively flat berms with swamp on both sides.  Biking can be a challenge on the grassy/sandy trails, but quite rewarding.  This is why this would be considered an intermediate ride and you must be in good physical condition to do it. "Not for Beginners"

    Recommended to bring:

*Helmet, water, snacks/lunch (we'll snack at the midway point), sunscreen, hat, and more **WATER**

Please check out the website for more information of this awesome swamp area!

I look forward to seeing you there!!

Hi guys. I just got off the phone with CREW who is the keeper of the Bird Rookery. The grass has not been mowed for quite some time due to it is too wet for the tractors to get in. At this time there are 10 sections that can be 12 inches of water for 1/2 mile at a time. I really wanted to ride but riding when it is this wet doesn't sound fun and it might tear up the trail. I look forward to doing it again when the rains go away. Talk to you all soon.

Thank you for calling, Judy; I was going to do it myself here in a bit before I sent out my contact info. I think I will cancel, because riding in tall grass isn't fun! Thanks again!

Almost forgot Water levels were high in a couple areas the swamps were basically connected in the low spots and we had to walk thru 2-12 inches of water for 2 to 12 yards IE Wear shoes you don't care if they get soaked
