Night Sounds on The River Canoe Trip #2 (kayaks only)

  • This location is shown only to members

Come and explore the Big Cypress National Preserve on this special NIGHT SOUNDS ON THE RIVER CANOE TRIP.

3 Miles East of SR-29

Ever wonder what it's like to travel through a mangrove tunnel? This 5-6 ADVENTURE offers a glimpse into the "heart of the swamp." There will be a 1 hour presentation about the Big Cypress Preserve prior to canoeing. Be sure to bring your binoculars to spot the many bird species that inhabit the area. Come prepared insect repellent and a sense of adventure.

The trip may vary by weather, water level, tide for the ranger’s choice of location (this can be either the TURNER RIVER or HALFWAY CREEK). Knowing canoeing basics is helpful but not required.

*******************************************************

The park service will provide "canoes" and equipment for FREE. This post is for people who wish to bring their own kayaks only. The total number of canoes is 6 provided by the park and they allow a total of 10 boats on this RANGER LED activity.

************************************************************

This is a ranger led activity and we begin with an orientation of the the Big Cypress National Preserve in their auditorium then go canoeing. Please only sign up if you are sure you can make it as space is limited. The fee is for drinks and a bagged lunch/dinner. This is to separate the serious from the not so serious. We will get sandwich orders from everyone prior to the event for ordering from Publix.

Thanks everyone for an awesome trip, the company can make all the difference. Those baby gators were so cute but I'm glad I didn't go swimming with mama gator around.

I'd love to go but don't own a kayak. Is there anyone who has an extra kayak or has space for me on their tandem kayak?
