Ahoy and calling all Nautical Preppers, waterfront dwellers, water lovers, boat owners, want to be crew members, and river rats interested in forming a greater Fort Myers area Flotilla of Prepper boats. The boats and crews would plan to come together at Prosperity Pointe Marina in N Fort Myers for the community benefits in a crisis. There is a core group of live-aboard boats already in place at the marina. The marina has security gates, floating docks, laundry, bathrooms, shower, dry storage lot, convenience store / bait shop, and is convenient to everything. The Marina would be easily protected in a crisis event be it nature or manmade. The monthly moorage rates are low AT $7.00 / ft / month plus electric and low live-aboard fees. If things were to get bad enough locally, flotilla members would consider departing as a group for a safer location but the preference will be to stay in place as a community of Prepper live-aboards.

The first meeting will be at Perkins Restaurant which is just a few blocks north of the bridge between Fort Myers and N Fort Myers at the intersection of Highway 41 (Cleveland Ave) and Hancock Bridge Parkway. The meeting room at Perkins has been reserved and you can enjoy a beverage or dinner during the meetup. If you are a boat owner or want-to-be owner, want-to-be a crewmember on a boat, or just love anything to do with water and boats, please come join us. If this group takes off, we will continue to meet on the 2nd Tuesday of each month or the 2nd and 4th Tuesday or whatever the group consensus may be. We expect to keep the meetings open to interested people for the first few meetups then consider closing the group to members only with future members added by invitation and a trial membership period.

Definition of a Prepper

Prepper (noun): An individual or group that prepares or makes preparations in advance of or prior to any change in normal circumstances or lifestyle without significant reliance on other persons (i.e., being self-reliant) or without substantial assistance from outside resources (govt., etc.) in order to minimize the effects of that change on their current lifestyle. Nautical Preppers do it aboard a boat rather than a land-based home.
