The basics of a Web API

For this meetup, we'll be starting at the bottom of the stack and working our way up.  You just might discover some useful tidbits along the way, such as how the World Wide Web works, how Web browsers work, and why T-Rex would be a fantastic software developer.

1.  What is an API?
2.  What is REST?
3.  Do you need a REST API? (not always)
4.  The Web API and HTTP.
5.  Creating versions of your API.

Bring your thinking shoes and your drinking caps, because we're going to have fun talking about all this, and then playing some table tennis afterwards.

Steve, do remember the url for that global ingestion engine of APIs? Was it kidding. I did find and which could be fun for future meetups.

Great meetup Steve. I enjoyed learning about the versioning via content/type. It seems like people were most passionate about caching and versioning. Also, I would like to learn more about the tools used to document, version, manage, maintain, etc. a proper API.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
