LA FEMME NIKITA (French w/ English Subtitles)

Eliza Doolittle with a Two-Toned Desert Eagle Mark VII Semi-Automatic.

This 1990 French film is not to be confused with the inferior American knock-off from 1993 ("Point of No Return"), nor with its silly cable television namesake.

"Nikita" is an amoral, violent, drug-addled street thug who shoots a policeman in the face during a drugstore heist. She's convicted of the crime and sentenced to death. But then the government gives her a choice. She can avoid the death penalty by agreeing to go to work for the intelligence service. She takes the deal, submits to years of underground training, and is then released back into society to await her inevitable call to duty.

During the wait, she falls in love.

Very interesting film, especially after seeing the American version.
