West Nashville Pick-up Doubles and Singles

Spring appears to have finally settled in on Nashville and the courts are calling for some good pickup mixed doubles and singles matches. Come join us at Hillwood HS for a fun morning of tennis.

NOTE: The Hillwood courts are split into 2 separated groups of 3 courts. So there are enough courts for 20 players and the meeting RSVP limit reflects that. But be aware that after the first 12 players show, whichever set of 3 courts not in use will have to be used. This should be okay, but may mean that late comers will play in separate area from the first 12 to show.

If you RSVP, please commit to either being there or providing plenty of notification of cancelling to enable as many as possible to play.

The meeting time has just been changed to start at 9:00 am (as it was last Fall) because of the weather warming up.

WEATHER AND COURT CONDITION UPDATE AS OF 6:30 AM 5/19

Robert was out checking the courts and came away with this photo. The courts look too wet to play. I'm going to go check again about 8:00 am and will send out an email at that time.

Well, I was pretty thoroughly wrong on this one! The lower courts had almost totally dried off by 10:00, although there were still a few slick spots. Sorry about the bad call on the courts. Live and learn. I would have never guessed that, after seeing what they looked like at 8:00, they would dry off the way the did. Something to keep in mind for similar conditions. Had a great time playing with D, Dennis and Matsu.

Good idea, Hugh and Matsu. The courts might be dry by 10. That would work for me.

It seems like several people might want to check it out at 10. I'll show up about that time to see what the courts look like then. I suspect there will be at least some people there.

The above photo is the upper courts and at 8:00 am they still look about like this. The lower courts are in slightly better shape.

My buddy is coming from Murfreesboro and i told him to stay home. I am afraid that humidity is too high to dry up. Though i would be ready if......

Matsu, I think you may be right. The roads are drying off, but I just got back from checking the courts. They seem to be much wetter than the roads with lots of puddles. If there is no more rain, the courts might be okay by 10 or 11, but they are really wet right now.
