Hike, Backpack, or Camp Mousetail Landing State Park
at The Tennessee River

Saturday, February 23rd, 11AM

Day Hike, Backpack, or Car Camp at campground near trailhead.
Hike in with backpackers to enjoy the view atop a bluff overlooking the Tennessee Several of us are going to do a backpacking trip to Mousetail on Saturday, February 23rd. If you don't want to backpack, you can still make this a dayhike, or car camp at the campground, which is close to our trailhead. Hike in with us while we set up camp, and enjoy the view atop a bluff overlooking the Tennessee River, and get a look at what the backcountry shelter looks like. Then, we'll hike from 6 - 10 miles, with options to get off the trail at several places to customize it just for you. If you're curious about backpacking, but just want to hike with us for a bit, or car camp instead, then come join us. You can be off the trail, and back to Nashville by dinner!

a couple of questions. I am pretty sure I can hike 5 to 6 miles but i am sure that is my limit. How do you get off the trail to customize?
    Are leashed dogs allowed?

Hello Catherine! Yes, dogs are welcome. There will be a couple more, as well. We are hiking in a short cut ( less then 2 miles) to our camping site. Then once we drop our backs, our hike will take us back by the visitor center at under four more miles, where you would be back at your car. There is a very nice 3 mile trail behind the visitor center, too, that we may do at the start, before we even start the backpacking. Once we see how many dayhikers we have, and discuss mileage they want to do, we will customize it. So, you should be fine!

You will not have to hike more than 6 miles, if even that, if you are just dayhiking with us.

This a joint event with the Southern Backpackers, Nashville Backpackers and the Tennessee Hiking Meetup. This is a great park to check out some paddling for a nice overnight event. Come float, hike, camp......choose your adventure!
