Introduction

I'm up for an adventure with a great bunch of folks! Have kayak, will travel!

Are you a native Nashvillian or where did you live before moving to Nashville?

I have lived in Memphis my whole life- but often travel to have some fun outdoors! Not much to do here in the flatlands!

Paddlers: What do you paddle - kayak or canoe? What type of water is your first preference, second and third?

Kayak, but will canoe if bringing the family.

What are your favorite things to do?

kayak, canoe, (especially overnighters) backpack, hiking, camping

  • Thanks Deena, I've mostly kayak camped for the past several years which lead to the hammock thing. It's just a "part time gig" that allows me to play with gear even when I can't get out in the woods. (or on a river) I've been wanting to get into backpacking and just now decided if I never make a move to, it won't happen. I just signed up on Meetup a week ago and can't wait to meet others in the area.

  • That was Sugarloaf Mtn in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil...you know, that huge rock that is at the edge of the ocean you see in pictures of Rio. Despite the formidable look most of it can be climbed with no climbing gear but for a 10 meter section about 2/3 of the way up. Mala took the pic and we were on our honeymoon.

  • Deena,
Just in case any of your group needs specific info on AR trails i am the founder of backpackingarkansas.com. You must be a member to log on but it is free. You can't find this much info in one place any were! We also work on keeping the ERL and the Caney Creek Wilderness area trails clear.

Now if you want a unique place to have a meetup I recommend the Caney Creek Wilderness! Great place.

  • What's up with this weather??? I thought winter was over. I appreciate the invite but will be leaving for Colorado that weekend. I guess I will just have to suffer in the Rockies :-)

  • Thanks Deena!!!! I am just now getting into the backpacking stuff. I had back surgery in October and have started back riding my bike. I'm going to start walking with the pack a couple times a week. I will definitely stay around and hopefully meet up sometime soon. Thanks.

  • Is there not some way to link these to sites without uploading again? If not I would be glad too.
