Seventh Annual WhiteBlaze Nashville Winter Dinner

Seventh Annual WhiteBlaze Nashville Winter Dinner
Saturday, February 23, 2013

Here's the itinerary (you are welcome to any or all of the activities):

2:00 - hike at Radnor Lake State Natural Area. Meet at the Visitor's Center off Granny White Pike.

5:00 - Dinner at Ruby Tuesday next door to REI in Brentwood. RSVPs are very helpful, so I can tell Ruby Tuesday how many to expect.

7:00 - Presentation next door at REI by Tony Hook, Manager & CEO of the Cumberland Trail Conference. The Cumberland Trail runs from Chattanooga, TN to Cumberland Gap, KY, parallel to the Appalachian Trail. It is a part of the Great Eastern Trail system that will ultimately offer an alternative long-distance trail in the eastern USA, to the Appalachian Trail.

Questions? Volunteers? Complaints? Anyone needing a place to stay? Anyone offering a place to stay for out-of-towners?

Here is the address (and phone number) for the Nashville REI (Ruby Tuesday is next door)--
261 Franklin Road
Brentwood, TN 37027

Check this thread for changes and updates, which I'll post if necessary.

I'm looking forward to seeing whoever is able to attend. Last year we had three dozen for dinner. Nothing like getting together for good food and yakking with fellow AT hikers. Well, except for hiking!

P.S.  Being the last Saturday of the month, this is also "Volunteer Day" at Radnor Lake State Natural Area, from 8:00 a.m. til noon.  Please consider volunteering this month or any other and giving back to the parks and trails we use and enjoy.

    are we hiking at 2p?

    • Raymond M.

Yes, Laurel. Sometimes I lead and sometimes I find a backup leader, but we have hiked every year. Some will meet at the Visitors Center off Granny White Pike at 2:00. Others may carpool over from the Ruby Tuesday/REI parking lot to get there at 2:00.

Yes, and possibly my brother also, if he's in town.

Just another tidbit about that day. Being the last Saturday of the month, it happens to also be Volunteer Day at Radnor Lake. So, consider volunteering that morning on whatever trail maintenance they have going on. It's not usually actually hard work and it is a lot of fun usually. Plus, they provide a free lunch. Details and updates are posted at
