In October we hiked about 3/4 of the Appalachian Trail that passes through Shenandoah National Park in Virginia. In April we will finish off the Northern District of the park and hike the rest of the way to Harper's Ferry in West Virginia. We're planning on doing this at a nice leisurely pace with our longest day being only 11.1 miles and a few five mile days thrown in as well. Highlights for the trip will include some beautiful vistas of the Shenandoah Piedmont, an overnight in Front Royal, the "Roller Coaster" section of the Appalachian Trail, a night at the Bears Den Trail Center, and historic Harper's Ferry (home of the Appalachian Trail Conservancy). We're planning on leaving the Nashville area early on the 6th and returning from Harper's Ferry late on the 17th. Although our dates are set, it is possible that our plans may change somewhat, so check back for updates.
