Yes, this is far for you Nashvegas folks, but just thought I would throw this out there.
Have you always wanted to hike in the Ozarks at least once in your life?
Here's your chance. The Southern Backpackers are going to backpack the Sylamore Creek Trail, smackdab in the middle of the beautiful Ozark Mountains, where the dulcimers play!
If you need to break up the drive, you can meet a carpool in Memphis at 1:00 pm on Friday. The trailhead is about 3 hours from Memphis.
Meet at Blanchard Springs National Forest Campground, in Fifty-Six, AR at 10:00 am on Saturday morning, or come on over Friday night, as several of us are car camping and cooking out.
We will backpack from Blanchard Springs to Allison.
Total length of this hike is about 8 miles. with options for a cave tour at Blanchard Springs Caverns, hiking without packs through the National Park to waterfalls, etc. , all right off the trail
This hike will require shuttling vehicles, so be prepared to help out with this.
