Want to head out to savage gulf and enjoy an overnight!
Heres the plan:
we can meet at the Hickory Hollow target at 8am, then head out to savage gulf.
I have a map down below, but we will start at the stone door ranger station, located near bersheba springs off 56. we will pick up the stone door trail, and follow it down to big creek gulf trail, ending at the alum gap campsite. On the way, we will be taking a side hike to ranger creek falls (i havent been there yet), and check it out. It will make the first day about a 5.5 miler or so. On sunday morning, i was wanting to hit the little loop to check out greeter falls, then get back up on to the rim and head back to the cars on laurel trail. Sunday total milage should be another 5.5 miles, making an 11 mile total. The trails are for intermediate hikers, with the climb out on sunday a little harder, but a short climb (.75 miles?).
Its going to be wonderful cool weather, so pack for cold weather camping. We will talk more in detail at the november meeting on thursday, and i welcome all questions concerning the trip.
I cant wait! should be a blast.
