One of the best places in TN, the Big South Fork, is begging to be explored this time of year! Lets gather Sat morning and drive the 3 hours to BSF. We'll do about 20 miles in 2 days, will include splashing through some streams, up and down some hills, and through some poorly maintained areas, mostly on terrain I've never explored before. If enough people sign up, we'll set up a shuttle and do the trail from Divide Road to Pickett State Park on the John Muir Trail.
If time allows, I'd like to do some exploring into Pickett State Forest too. I imagine this trail will be strenuous due to the many ups and downs and stream crossings. Prepare for cold night-time temperatures.
I'd also go Friday after work if anyone else is game to get two nights in the woods. If the weather allows, campfires will keep us warm! Bring your favorite ghost story to recite around the fire! Bonus points for telling a spooky story from the BSF (there are several!)
BSF permits are $5 and we will split gas.
Bring (and wear) your blaze orange, it is hunting season!
