Appalachian Trail in NJ/NY

Last October I hiked the AT through almost all of NJ. I plan to return for a few days to pick up where I left off. I'll finish NJ and start NY.  Just under 50 total trail miles.  Here is my tentative schedule:

6-10 Tue evening  5.0 mi  NJ Hwy 94 to Wawayanda Shelter

6-11 Wed  12.1 mi  Wawayanda to Wildcat Shelter

6-12 Thu  9.9 mi  Wildcat to NY Hwy 17 (motel?)

6-13 Fri  12.8 mi  Hwy 17 to West Mountain Shelter

6-14 Sat  7.0 mi  West Mountain to Hudson River

6-15 Sun  Travel home to Nashville?

If you might be interested, contact me and let's discuss plans.

GREAT trip. Met lots of thru-hikers and section hikers and very fine people. Saw some of the most famous sights on the AT and elsewhere. Can't wait to go back and pick up where I left off.

Slacking should make the miles move right along. Debbie, Slack-packing is where someone takes or meets you at the trail head with only the snacks/water/essentials for the day. The remainder of your pack, sleeping bag, pad, etc. are left behind making a very light pack for the day. In short"slacking".

So far I have about half a dozen folks on WhiteBlaze.net interested in joining me for parts of this hike, and/or slack-packing me, and/or shuttling me. But there's still opportunity if anyone from Meetup wants to go too.

I've had two different folks from WhiteBlaze.net sign up to hike portions of this hike with me, so I'm adding them here as my "guests." Also have a volunteer to slack-pack me three days! WOW! :)

Tempting! I am over due for a long hike. Will be checking family visits in that month. Back to you in a week or so.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
