on this trip, we will be journeying to Mammoth Cave! Not for the cave, but for the beautiful wildflowers in the northern end of the park. There are lots of trails, and plenty of campsites, and we will backcountry camp Saturday night. The plan is to start our hike at the maple spring trailhead, then follow Raymer Hollow trail out to Collie Ridge. Im thinking about Heading Southwest on Collie Ridge Trail to the Collie Ridge backcountry camp, a total of about 8 miles the first day. From there we have a lot of accessability to other side trails and water, so the rest of the day can be for exploring! We will hike out about 6 miles on Sunday on good spring trail, past good spring church and back onto maple spring trail. It is fairly easy milage, and is recommended for beginner on up!

The wildflowers at Mammoth Cave in April are said to rival the Smokies with their beauty and abundance, so bring your cameras and an adventurous spirit, and join me for a beautiful weekend!

Wonderful time with a lot of great people! The hiking was nice, and thanks to Margie for giving us the skinny on all the flora in the area! The campsite was awesome, and the rain made the hike an adventure!

So we have a rivergate location, and the blue ridge location for meeting up. (Amy, I would like to reserve a spot in your car). My thinking is we could all gather at the maple springs loop parking in the park around 10:15-10:30am. There is a 70 percent chance of thunderstorms on sunday, but if we break camp on sunday morning in a timely fashion, i think we will be fine. Cant wait to see you all!

I think the park and ride behind Target might be a good place to leave cars if anyone wants to meet in the Rivergate area. We would probably plan to leave a little after 8:00, or just after the Blue Ridge group left so that we would arrive about the same time. If anyone is interested in riding with Carla and me, please let me know so we can look for you.

I had planned to meet at Blue Ridge and have room for 2-3 people plus gear in my car.

Frank,Carla and I are near the Rivergate area and thought it would be easy to leave from there. I just am not sure where a good place to park the cars would be. I'll have room for 2-3 more people and gear.
    Thanks,
    Cynthia

Frank, I'm in the Clarksville area so I can meet up with you all at exit 48 or at the park - which ever works out best. I can hold 3-4 other people & gear if some want to hitch a ride from there. Do you have an estimate meet up time?

    Oh, p.s.!

My car might make it, but I wouldnt hold my breath. Anyone meeting at Blue Ridge able to drive? Let me know, as I may be able to get a reliable car for the weekend to use for us!

Its exactly 100 miles from the store to the park, about an hour and forty five minutes drive. If we start out in different locations, we could meet at exit 48 on 65 north, and go to the park from there (10 miles away), or just meet at the park?Frank

    Hey gang!

Who all is able to meet at Blue Ridge on Saturday morning? Do any of you all have suggestions on a second spot to meet, as I know Blue Ridge is inconvenient for some of you! Any ideas?
