Announcing a new Meetup for Nashville Backpacker Meetup!

What: Overnight Wildlife Viewing Trip at Land Between the Lakes

When: January 24,[masked]:00 AM

Where: Click the link below to find out!

Meetup Description: Just a feeler to see if anyone's interested in a winter trip.

Eagles from Canada/Great Lakes usually winter at the Land Between the Lakes in January and February.

There are also herds of elk and bison year-round.

If there is enough interest, I will contact the park rangers to see if they can help me plan a route.

This will be a beginner trip, with low mileage. 10-15 miles over two days.

We will start on Saturday morning, follow the suggested route, and then play things by ear depending on our luck. Plan to camp in the backcountry on Saturday night. But, it's a small park, and only 2 hours from Nashville, so there is the option of bailing out if bad weather moves in.

All plans very tentative right now, but because it's a cold-weather trip, I wanted to give people enough time to plan. (Frank offers free/discounted rentals at Blue Ridge Mountain Sports for Meetup members. Contact him for details.) Please RSVP Yes or Maybe and I will contact you with more details as they develop.

I live in Clarksville, so I would prefer not to drive to Nashville to pick everyone up before driving right back through Clarksville again. Please let me know if you have a suggestion for a meeting place on I-65 or I-24 and I can post it as the official meeting place.
