Looking for advice on family backpacking spots

A former member
Post #: 1
I am planning a backpacking trip with my 9 and 11 year old kids. They can only go maybe two miles per day with packs on moderate terrain. Ideally I am looking for a great, backcountry base camp with water that is within two miles of a trailhead from which we can do some good day hikes. Any insight that members have on Garden of the Gods, or other spots would be much appreciated. I should point out that I am in Memphis (I know... I am an interloper in a Nashville group) so I am limited to roughly 5 hours driving time from here. So far, I have spots in the Sipsey Wilderness Area within Bankhead NF and another in Richland Creek Wilderness Area in Arkansas.
Thanks in advance for the help.
