Hi Jay, yes I threw one in the pot. It's not one that'll get alot of recognition, more for the process. It was fun to be a part of! Did you submit one?

anyone attending the shoot tomorrow downtown, have a fisheye lens? I"d love to shoot with one tomorrow, can I borrow? or know of some one who has one? I can use another day....

    October 11, 2013

    • Susan B.

I do not have a fisheye lens. Sorry. My phone number is 6154976933. We will be meeting at Union and 6th Ave at 9am. Mayor on tight schedule so be sure to be on time!

      October 11, 2013

  • Susan B.

Just got word the mayor will be meeting us at the intersection of Union St and 6th Ave. See you all there at 9am! They are a little afraid that with all the SFoB action going on that the mayor might be distracted by other folks, or maybe the great books on display! So see you all at the intersection of Union and 6th. Sorry for the flurry of emails, just want to make sure we are where we need to be at the appointed time.

By the way, we have over a thousand photographers in this group and while I realize not all of us are active, it does not mean you cannot be involved. Let's show the mayor how thrilled we are at the chance to be part of Nashville history by being the ones who win the contests! :)

we will be there Keith in front of the Capitol Building facing Charlotte Avenue at 9am. I am so excited the Mayor will be joining us even if it is only for a few minutes!! Thank you for this opportunity to become a part of Nashville history.

Okay folks, hold onto your shutters, I just got the most amazing news! Mayor Karl Dean will be on hand at 9am to visit with all of us at the Capitol Building as we start looking for our favorite shots of the skyline of Nashville! He will only visit for a few minutes so be sure to BE ON TIME and say hello to him! Hopefully other duties will not make him unavailable, but as of right now he is committed to visiting with us as we walk a bit about the capitol area...

    Susan,

Can you or someone get a photo of the group? Preferably while everyone is taking a photo? I'll need everyone's name (usually from left to right). Send me the photo, and I'll try to get the Tennessean or NBJ to post it. Or, I'll use for a blog post about the contest.

I was also going to alert the Tennessean that you folks were going to be out and about in the hopes they would dispatch a photographer. Can you DM me a cell phone number, so they can find you (if they decide to cover?)

    Thanks so much!
    Keith

Next to the Capitol building at 10th ave and Charlotte Pike there is a huge parking lot that is free on weekends. We will park there but with the SFoBooks going on parking will be full quickly, so be a little early if you can.

Thank you so much for that parking tip! I've spent a ton of $$$ for parking this year. I am looking forward to seeing everyone Saturday.

      October 8, 2013

  • Laura R.

Susan, do you have an address to where we'll be parking this saturday?

    October 8, 2013

  • Tom H.

This will be my first photo meetup. Looking forward to it!

What fun this will be! Thank you for the information Susan! I will try my best to be involved, even if its just to send a photo. Really also hope to get involved more with the group!

Also, wanted to remind everyone that the Southern Festival of Books is going on this weekend (11-13th) and that parking might be tight so be on time or you will not get a spot and will have to look elsewhere for one. I am still waiting to hear if anyone wants a nighttime session for the group to photograph the skyline...let me know...

    October 6, 2013

  • Laura R.

I'd like to meet on the 12th...great chance to see the skyline and get some ideas/shots! Sounds like great fun!

    October 4, 2013

  • Susan B.

Please remember that only ONE photo per photographer may be submitted

    October 4, 2013

  • Cilene B.

I can't make the meeting but will sumbit a photo or 2 I'm sure.

    October 4, 2013

  • Angela R.

I can't make it on the 12th, but I may have to see what I can do about joining the contest!!

    October 4, 2013

  • Susan B.

Oh, and meeting at the Capitol Building on the 12th is just a suggestion because there is great FREE parking near it (a large lot) and it would be a nice place for a group to meet and start walking around, plus the capitol building has a high vantage point for interesting shots. If someone knows of a better place let me know and we will post that as an additional meeting point...

    October 4, 2013

  • Jan R.

Would love to go to the meet up on the 12th, but I already have a commitment for that day. I look forward to seeing some great photos from the shoot!

    October 4, 2013

  • Susan B.

So, let's get out and check out the skyline. You DO NOT have to attend the Oct 12th date to enter this contest, I encourage you to take advantage of the day and night options for photography for this contest. Remember, one entry per photographer. Enter in the category that best suits you (amateur, not paid; Professional - paid) and have fun with it. Share with us some of your tips for nighttime/daytime sky shots; let me know if you would like a different time for another shoot (shall we do one daytime, one nighttime as a group?)...
