WordCamp Volunteers Meeting / Social

This month we will be having a volunteer meeting for the first hour of the meetup. We will be covering the outline of the event, what areas are available for volunteers and what will be expected of them.

After the we walk through the event we'll be hanging out and talking WordPress as usual. Please, even if you are not going to volunteer, feel free to come out get an idea of what WordCamp is. As always bring your WordPress questions too, there is a pretty good bet that someone in the group will have the answer you are looking for.

General Introductions:
A brief introduction with information on the event as a whole. We’ll explain what you can expect as a volunteer throughout the day and we’ll expect of you. Our goal is that no one will miss more than one session throughout the day.

Specific Areas to Volunteer:

  • Placing signs in various locations for directions and information.

  • Check off attendees
  • Hand out lanyards and schedules
  • Walk-in registration

Swag Table

  • Monitor various items of the swag table

Monitor Morning Refreshments

  • Be available to help where needed, cups, napkins and such help clean up any accidents if they occur.

Lunch Monitors

  • Help direct traffic
  • Help hand out lunch packets
  • Help with drinks

Group Volunteer Effort:

Load In
We ask they all volunteers come early so they can be available to help set up registration, load in swag, refreshments and other various tasks that may come up.

Load Out
It would be nice if there was no technical load out. If we are able to pick up as the day goes along that would be fantastic!

I'm new to Wordpress too. It looks like the event on the 20th of April is more what I'm looking for. Is that presentation open to the public and is there a fee for enrolling?

Great! Will I be notified via Meetup or will I need to look online for them and if so, where should I look. I'm excited about this class as I know close to nothing and my learning style doesn't fit well with the 'just play around with in online' approach. Thanks.

I'm new to Word Press and have never created a theme from scratch. Does this group ever have talks geared toward complete newbies? If so, when and where? I'd love to check it out!

Shearry, currently the dev side of the meetup is growing. We do a monthly breakfast but not focused presentations yet. However the WordCamp coming up next month will feature some in-depth code. You'll want to check that out! http://2013.nashville...

Hey everyone, This months meetup will be a Volunteer meeting for WordCamp. All are welcome even if you are not volunteering, though the presentation will actually be Ross and myself outlining the event, signing people up for specific volunteer items and answering the questions that we can.

We will be hanging out at usual from 8 to 8:30pm as usual. So, feel free to come out get a gist of what WordCamp is and then hang out with your fellow Pressers!

If you would like to volunteer head over to following address and let us know who you are. http://2013.nashville.wordcamp.org/volunteer/

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
