Free DC Buses to 50th Anniversary of March on Washington

The National Writers Union (UAW Local 1981) is providing free buses to Washington, D.C., for a major march and rally on the Mall on Saturday, August 24.

$10 deposit is required to reserve your seat on the bus. When you check in, the $10 will be returned. Make your deposit online at

Departure/Drop-off Point: National Writers Union's headquarters at 256 West 38th Street, New York.

Departure Time: Midnight, August 24
Conference room will be open Friday evening to serve coffee.

Return Time: Between 7-8 pm, August 24

Seats are limited, so please reserve early. The rally at the Lincoln Memorial will be at 8:00 am on Saturday, August 24th. A march to the MLK memorial will follow. We expect to be leaving DC around 2:00 PM.

    This marks the 50th Anniversary of the March on Washington where Martin Luther King Jr. made his "I Have A Dream" speech. Thousands are expected to attend. To give you a sense of the size, UAW Region 9A alone (covering NYC area, New England, and Puerto Rico) is sending nineteen buses down to DC.
