In this group we learn what is involved in following the Red Road and Native American Lifeways. As such, lectures, workshops, drumming circles, crafts and other events are available that build on each other. These are offerred to anybody who is interested in becoming a better human being and who participates in a respectful way.

If you RSVP for an event, please show up. If you cannot make it, please let us know .

The meet ups are led by Grandfather Rick McBride who is mixedblood Tsalagi (Cherokee.) He was named Cante Lute (Schan-tay Lou-tuh) by the spirits through his sundance chief, which means Red Heart. Grandfather Rick has been actively participating in ceremony for over 30 years. In June of 2016 he completed his 14th sundance on the Cheyenne River Reservation in South Dakota. He leads local ceremonies, such as drum and prayer circles, inipi (purification lodge) and others. His knowledge comes from actual experience and the direct teachings from a number of traditional elders he has been privileged to associate with over the years.

“The true Indian sets no price upon either his property or his labor. His generosity is limited only by his strength and ability. He regards it as an honor to be selected for difficult or dangerous service and would think it shameful to ask for any reward, saying rather: "Let the person I serve express his thanks according to his own bringing up and his sense of honor. Each soul must meet the morning sun, the new sweet earth, and the Great Silence alone! What is Silence? It is the Great Mystery! The Holy Silence is His voice!”

Ohiyesa, (aka Charles Eastman, a mixedblood Mdewankton Sioux, 1858-1939)

Rick builds drums. If you have interest in acquiring one of his drums, or you would like to build your own in a 1-on-1 workshop, follow this link to the DRUM PAGE on his website.
