A day long conversation with GUNTHER HAUK, biodynamic beekeeper and author of ?Toward Saving the Honeybee.?

Gunther is giving a workshop for all bee lovers in Portland on March 19 - 21. (Discount for early registration before March 1) Highly suggest everyone attend. More info is on our meetup calendar. Contact Cathy Lusa to register -- [address removed] or[masked]-1741. Saturday night includes a preview of the new film by Taggart Siegel (The Real Dirt on Farmer John) about honeybees and what people all around the world are doing to help them. It's called "Queen of the Sun." I can email you a flyer with more info, just send a note to [address removed].

On the MONDAY following is our Advanced Beekeeping class with Gunther.

Gunther talks about the significance of working to save honeybees, what this precocious being is attempting to teach us and how the hive helps us in our own evolution. We will look at common beekeeping practices from the honeybees? view and discuss solutions that encourage ways for people to work in more caring partnership with the bees.

Throughout the day we will engage in conversation with Gunther and fellow beekeepers to address practical aspects of beekeeping such as mite and disease control, medicinal applications, seasonal hive care, good forage and bee nutrition.

We will also discuss the value of observation and awareness, the importance of wild bees, ways to reduce stress in bees? lives, and how to increase our own perceptual abilities.

When: Monday, March 22 from 10 - 4
Where: Friendly Haven Rise Farm
Battle Ground, WA
Cost: Due to the generosity of the
Portland Anthroposophic Society,
the cost is only $45 for the day. ($46.50 via paypal)
Who: Beekeepers, farmers and gardeners

We hope there will be a good level of bee experience in this group and that attendees will have read Gunther?s book before the class. This class should move along at a good clip.

Keep in mind that Gunther and his wife Vivian will be in Portland from March 19-21 teaching a weekend workshop on bees that is open to all regardless of your bee knowledge.*

This class on March 22 is specifically for people with beekeeping experience or who intend to invite bees to live in their organic / biodynamic vineyards, gardens or farms.
