Addendum - December 1, 2014 :
I've become interested in Eckhart Tolle's ideas on the fake identity of the self, the ego, etc. Labels are not easy to handle or use.. let's just say this group is for any Consciousness out there that wants to dissolve the ego, become more conscious of the "I", the consciousness, the being and oneness of existence. Yes, knowing the name and properties of a plant is useful but that is "thinking" and labeling , which also obscures the mystery in things.. language obscure the true nature and aliveness of things. I strive now to see things as is, not to label them, to allow a flow that words are deficient in capturing.
This recent interest of mine in this area .. of experiencing the "I Am" , the Hindu Atman, the Being or Awareness state, might explain the lack of scheduled meetups.
If you're interested in Eckhart Tolle (especially the book: New Earth), understanding and dissolving the ego and all it's artificial constructs.. contact me, i am no teacher, however bouncing and sharing ideas and examining the ego and reminding each other not to identify with the ego can be things people could help each other out with. Mindfulness meditation, and being conscious throughout the day are my current egoic goals that eventually hopefully will dissolve said ego.
This group's future meetings will still include nature walks, but i will likely introduce words to meditate on before the meeting, and emphasize the time spent in Awareness during the walk and also the individual time alone at some point during a walk. However, upon being asked, i will gladly schedule fun and 'active' meetups, anything listed in our interests is fair game from picnics to movies or canoeing .. the state of being Aware is a thing you can take with you every where and have any time. Please don't wait for me to schedule something and feel free to contact me and "ask" me to schedule events, I will gladly do so. I tend to be perceived by others as a hermit (got lots to read and experience alone), and prefer meeting one-on-one with friends so i forget to schedule meetups.
The mission statement and "keywords" / interests this group has will be edited soon to reflect an emphasis on awareness and being and mindfulness of the I Am..
Revised 5/6/2014 at 8AM:
This group is for those who are (naturally) spiritual, and for those who view nature in a spiritual light (view nature as a part of their spiritual experience). We are not a hiking group, we do more stopping to smell the roses and to "be" and experience the moment than we do walking.
This shall be a positive, supportive, easy going, and spiritual group for people who view nature as a part of their spiritual experience.
We hope to experience mini-vacations for the soul and mind, times of mindfulness and 'being' along with socializing and activities at times. We strive to strike a balance between being, meditating, mindfulness, being still and socializing walking talking picnicking.
This group also promotes the appreciation of connecting, enhanced mindfulness and healing via the practice of: Barefoot walking, Earthing, Grounding, Sunning, Moon-gazing, Sun-gazing, Breathing, Tree-touching, Plant-eating, dew-sipping, wind-watching, star gazing, slow walking, mindful walking, learning about nature plants and animals, etc. Connect with nature, slow down, look, touch, feel.
The following are keywords relating to what we find interesting and what we like to do. I would say that you should to be comfortable with, accepting of, or curious about the following if this is to be a good fit:
Spirituality, Meditation (sitting and walking indoors and out), Mindfulness, "Being", connecting with nature, Empowerment, Personal Growth, Knowing one's self, Pagan, Druid, Shaman, Native wisdom, Chinese medicine and Qigong, Metaphysics, Self-Improvement, Positivity, Optimism, Law of Attraction, Herbs, medicinal herbs, natural medicines, Chinese medicine, yoga, quiet walks, calmness, creating a blissful (holy) environment, walking, hiking, outdoors, photography, nature photography, nature walks, Positive affirmations, acceptance, giving and receiving support, sunning (sun gazing with closed eyelids), sun tanning, moon gazing, edible wild plants, bird watching, grounding and earthing (barefoot), spiritual alchemy, healthy attitudes, seeking wholeness, love, wellness, seeking mini-vacations, commune with nature, walking like a god.
