Founded in 1920, Nature Friends LA is one of southern California's oldest outdoor hiking and recreation clubs.

We are a private, non-profit organization and welcome hikers and nature enthusiasts of all ages and backgrounds to enjoy weekly jaunts in the San Gabriels, monthly gatherings at our rustic alpine clubhouse (built in 1924) in Sierra Madre, and occasional treks into the wild.

We also maintain a hand-built log cabin (built 1937) on Mt. San Jacinto near Idylwild, which is open to official members and their guests throughout the spring, summer and fall seasons.

Nature Friends Los Angeles has two sister branches (in San Francisco and Oakland), with alpine lodges in Muir Woods and Donner Summit). We are affiliated with Naturfreunde International, which operates nearly 1,000 recreational hostels, mainly in Europe.
