Perseids Meteor Shower

The Perseids are the most popular meteor shower as they peak on warm August nights as seen from the northern hemisphere. The Perseids are active from July 13 to August 26. They reach a strong maximum on August 12 or 13, depending on the year. Normal rates seen from rural locations range from 50-75 shower members per hour at maximum.

Enjoy viewing from your own backyard. Post pictures of the shooting stars if you get a chance.

It would be nice if everyone posted their photos of the meteor shower here. I have included a link for those who want to give it a try.

The peak is on Wednesday, so hopefully the sky will clear by then.

Hi Paul, actually I was teasing you. I have many fond memories of this shower, but have not been able to see it in several years. Hopefully, this year.....sigh.....

The problem with meteor showers is that you have to depend on clear skies. It's always hit or miss. Maybe we can find a place to get together for this one.

Isn't this a a little early to start planning, aren't there any celestial fireworks any sooner?

There are other meteor showers earlier, but this is one of the best for the year. I like to plan early.
