I would like to help tip one House district to the democrats in 2014. How ?

  • Needs a date

  • Needs a location

  • I suspect that "Better Georgia" or the Obama group can advise if there is a district that it in view of going democratic. Identify that district , then spend then next 6 month registering voters and working to get out the vote.

I'm willing to act as Assistant to anyone who will take over the Organizer's position for this group. I have a 'full plate" at this time, can't assume the leadership role.

Republicans certainly had a big win! Wish we could have done more to slow them down!

I like this idea! It is time to move Tom Price out of this seat. I am however, disappointed that this meet up group doesn't actually seem to "meet." Are there no regularly scheduled meetings - not even once a month? I think that would be the best way to build a force with which Republicans have to reckon!

It looks like China Garden is still a good option, we are currently planning a meeting for 9/17, details to follow.

      September 2

    • Patricia A E.

Yes, come to the Sep 17 meeting at China Garden and meet Bob Montigel, who is challenging Tom Price AND meet Jimmy Johnson from state dist.48, who is challenging Harry Geisinger for State Representative in the General Assembly! For more info on Jimmy go to: www.JohnsonForGeorgia.com and come to the China Garden!

I have had good luck booking meeting rooms at the East Cobb Government building on Lower Roswell Road - has anyone looked into that?

I see that a location is needed for the next meeting. I'm wondering about the UU church in Roswell, as this is right up their alley and I don't think they charge anything, but I'd be happy to check on it. It may be that someone in the group has to be a church member. I've been there, but not in years and not a member. P.S. just fyi, I've posted my house for rent under the "discussion" tab, which is different from the "conversation" about upcoming meetings.

I gave up on UU's facilities as an option. No one there ever returned my calls.

Also having this problem, Kim. I used to be a member there and was hoping to get a meeting scheduled at UUMAN but my recent emails have gone unanswered.

I am working with Karin to get an event scheduled in the next few weeks so Bob can speak to this group and get your feedback. Stay tuned!

Linda Harmon: Although not a response to your query of 24 June, you may wish to go to Campaignmoney.com and find contributions by zip codes for 2014 and earlier election years. As an example, in 2014 contributions from those in 30307 are
$340,000 to Democrats and $42,000 to Republicans
(amounts rounded to the nearest thousand).

Well, wouldn't it be great to flip a district right here in North Fulton?

I am a new member to this group and a volunteer for the Bob Montigel campaign. Bob is a small business owner running for Congress in Georgia's 6th Congressional District which encompasses much of Roswell, Johns Creek, Tucker, Alpharetta, Sandy Springs, Brookhaven, Chamblee, Doraville, and Dunwoody.

Bob is seeking to unseat Tom Price, a Republican incumbent that has become part of the problem in Congress due to his rigid ideology.

If you are interested in having Bob at one of your meetings to speak and to hear from the group, please contact me.

If any of you want to help with Bob's campaign as we face an opponent with powerful allies and a lot more money, then please contact me as well!

    Best,
    Eric

La Madeleine at 1165 Perimeter Center Way,
near Perimeter Mall? There is a room separate
from the dining area and has been easily available
as I recall. It is convenient to I-285 and to 400. Was
the noise from the kitchen the reason we have not met there in a long time, or was it for another problem?

Hi, I haven't quite thought this all the way through, but I wonder if there is data available to identify the highest amount of contributions to NPR in a primarily Conservative Republican county. Now, I realize this may be a sweeping generalization or such, but this might tell us if there is a more receptive if not liberal group of people that may not be organized, represented or? I sent an email to NPR to see if the data was available. Then we'd just have to figure out a creative way to get people engaged. I have a couple goofy ideas on that front too but first we need the data. Perhaps we could marry it the NPR info up with PAC data as Adrienne mentioned below and then as she said, get tool kits and information out where it is easily found/used.

  • Shirley M.

When is the next meeting? Thanks.

Definitely plug into other Political Action Committees which provide a place/space for motivated Democrats to connect AND support candidates with what's needed to get their name out there: campaign contributions. Also popular campaigns are looking for people like you all to volunteer hours. Please consider plugging your talent into these efforts, as there are statewide efforts, tool kits etc to make this easy for people as possible. These campaigns have identified districts and are going through the process. If you are interested in joining these efforts - please let me know.

Rob Woodall is the Republican Representative for Congressional District #7. Woodall needs replacing. Covers Gwinnett County, Duluth, Suwanee, Sugar Hill and others. Last election cycle, Moveon.org registered 3000 new Democratic voters in 6 weeks. Gwinnett County is an option, I think.

Thanks, I have never attended a "Needles" meeting. I think there may be value in getting folks together and discussing. You obviously know stuff and have been paying attention. There may be others who can help turn this idea into action.

Gwinnett is turning slowly. There are various districts within Gwinnett that will likely take statewide seats (i.e. 105 with Tim Hur / Renita Robinson vs. Joyce Chandler (R). But it may take some time for the entire district to flip at a Congressional level.
