NEC Fall Concert Series: NEC Symphony + Loebel, Rachmaninoff, Chopin & Agócs

It's time for the next FREE classical music concert for the spring season at the New England Conservatory of Music!

Tonight, David Loebel conducts the NEC Symphony in a program featuring Rachmaninoff's Symphonic Dances, Chopin's Piano Concerto No. 1 with soloist Elina Akselrud, and Shenanigan by Kati Agócs of the faculty. (Listen to excerpts below; the names in the list link to youtube performances of the works.)

For more information about this concert, visit

Let's meet up at no later than 7:30pm, so the group can grab a bunch of seats together when the doors open, and then socialize before the concert.  We will probably end up sitting in the left-center section of the balcony.

Directions to Jordan Hall:
The hall is located at the corner of Huntington and Gainsborough streets, about a block south of the Symphony T stop on the Green Line. It's also close to the Mass Ave station on the Orange line.  Look for the building with the YMCA sign on top of it as you walk down Huntington Ave--it's near that building. The main entrance is reached from Gainsborough Street.  Once inside, line up down the right hall off the lobby, and once they open the hall, head up the stairs to the left; at the top of the stairs, grab a program, and proceed to the left again, then go in to the hall.  We sit in the section to the right of the doors, usually as far to the center as we can.

This evening's program will include:

Since the balcony was closed, I never found the Group, but thoroughly enjoyed the concert anyway.
