The Blue Flower at A.R.T. in Harvard Square

Fusing the sounds of Weimar cabaret and country-western music, The Blue Flower takes us on a journey from Belle Epoque Paris to the World War I battlefields. As the artist Max Baumann assembles his memories into a spectacular collage, he reveals the story of four friends and lovers trying to make their way through a world in pieces. The American Repertory Theatre in Cambridge has gotten better and better, and I ended up getting season tickets because everything they are doing this year looks fantastic. PLEASE NOTE: I already have my ticket, since I have season tickets, so we won't be able to sit together as a group (unless you decide to buy tickets together), I just wanted to see if people wanted to join me. There is no group rate. YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR BUYING YOUR OWN TICKET IN ADVANCE, RSVP-ing here does not guarantee attendance! Tickets are on sale starting 11/2. On the day of the show, I will be in the lobby by 1:30 pm. Showtime is 2 pm.

This play was amazing, a multimedia drama with music, about a group of friends in Germany during WWI and leading up to WWII. Really moving and avant garde. They even invented a language for one of the characters to speak (he rebels by no longer speaking German) and created film that enhances the play. All the music is great, it's evocative and sincere, not sappy like some musicals. So much research into history and art history went into this, and it was intricate but compelling.

    Hi everyone,

I went to the ART yesterday to buy the tickets but they changed the policy. I can only get 2 tickets per show with my membership, and they are not anymore $15 but $20... I am sorry, they said they were loosing money with the cheap tickets.
