New Meetup: Beacon Hill Chocolate Tour

From: Anna
Sent on: Friday, May 28, 2010 1:21 PM
Announcing a new Meetup for Nerd Fun - Boston!

What: Beacon Hill Chocolate Tour

When: Sunday, July 18,[masked]:30 PM

Savenors Market
160 Charles Street,
Boston, MA 02114

I will aim for being there at 1:15 pm. Tour starts at 1:45PM. The location is right off the Charles/MGH T stop.

Note: You must buy a ticket in advance by calling Kristin Gately at A Taste of Chocolate,[masked], you will not be able to purchase a ticket online. After you purchase your ticket, RSVP here and join the waiting list stating that you have purchased the ticket. Then I will move you up to the Yes list.
We are getting a discounted price of $30 (instead of 48) but need an accurate count. The tour is limited to 14 people and will be opened up to the general public on July 10 if we get fewer than 14 RSVPs.

Our exclusive 2.5 hour chocolate walking tour highlights Beacon Hill, one of Boston?s smallest and most historic neighborhoods, featuring a mix of grand townhouses and fashionable shops. Stroll down Charles Street to spy pricey antique shops and of course, fine chocolate. Stroll through the Boston Public Gardens and end with a double finale in Park Square. Learn the history and life of chocolate, how luxury chocolates are created, and much more. We can think of no more fun way to spend a Sunday afternoon among friends.

Here are some of our destinations where you can experience the best chocolate in this part of Boston:

* Feature Stop: Beacon Hill Chocolate whose goal is to represent artisan chocolate producers who create quality products using traditional and innovative chocolate making techniques.
* Taste the famous Chocolate Soup featured on Boston?s Original Chocolate Tour.
* A Chocolate & Wine pairing with Somerville?s Taza Chocolate
* A pot of chocolate fondue and dippables at a location famous for this.
* Visit a third generation market whose founder worked with Julia Child.
* Enjoying Chocolate decadence at a famous local dessert chain started as a Harvard University project

You?ll pick up plenty of samples as you go, plus tips on tasting, buying and storing fine chocolate. Also learn how to pair chocolate with wines!

Because these tours go to small shops, there is a strict 14 person limit on the tour. You must purchase a ticket directly from Taste of Chocolate to be one of the lucky people (see below for instructions). RSVPing to this Meetup will not reserve your space on the tour.

Other Details: This tour starts right next to the Charles MGH T stop on the Red Line. There is limited street parking available, but the tour will not end in Beacon Hill, so using the T is advised. The tour will start promptly at 1:45pm because some of the merchants have made special arrangements to accommodate us.

There will be a moderate amount of walking with plenty of stops along the way. Comfortable shoes are advised. Expect the tour to take 2.5 hours.

Advance tickets required ? tour size limited to 14. Reserve your space today!
