Event Description: he Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics will screen a classic science fiction film periodically throughout the year. The series will explore the idea that "everything we learned about science, we learned from the movies." Doors open at 6:30 pm; programs begin at 7:00 pm. (See below for location and directions.)

Friday, January 25, 2008 "Destination Moon" The U.S. is losing the space race due to sabotage. So industrialists take over the quest to land Americans on the Moon and off we go! Based on author Robert A. Heinlein's novel Rocket Ship Galileo, with scientific input from rocket expert Hermann Oberth and spectacular matte paintings from Chesley Bonestell, this 1950 movie takes us on a thrilling adventure into space!

And, of course, what opening feature duly complements this movie? "A Grand Day Out" featuring Wallace & Gromit on their quest for cheese from the Moon!
