Announcing a new Meetup for Nerd Fun - Boston!
What: Last minute concert: Lab Orchestra Conducting Concert (Copeland and Beethoven)
When: December 11,[masked]:00 PM
(Below Jordan Hall)
30 Gainsborough St
Boston, MA 02115
Let's meet up for another evening of FREE classical music!
At Wednesday's concert at the NEC, I found out that there's a Friday evening concert where 2 conducting students will be conducting the newly formed NEC "lab orchestra" in performing two works by Aaron Copeland, including Appalachian Spring, and Beethoven's Pastoral Symphony (no. 6).
I love these pieces, so I'm going, even though it's short notice, and I hope some of you will join me!
The concert will be held in Brown Hall, located in the same building as Jordan Hall, but apparently to the right and downstairs. For more details about the concert, go to http://necmusic.edu/lab-orchestra-conducting-concert-0
This Friday concert starts at 8:30pm, but let's meet up at 8:00, so the group has a chance to get good seats and socialize a bit before the concert. I've never been to this part of the building before, so it'll be an adventure, but I'll try to gather us in the lobby upstairs and then head down as a group this time.
Directions to Brown Hall:
The hall is located downstairs in the same building as Jordan Hall, at the corner of Huntington and Gainsborough streets
, about a block south of the Symphony T stop on the Green Line. The main entrance is reached from Gainsborough Street.
This evening's program will include:
- Aaron Copland: Appalachian Spring (Listen here)
- Arnold Schoenberg: Accompaniment to a Film, Op. 34 (1930)
- Aaron Copland: Music for the Theatre (1925)
- Beethoven: Symphony no. 6 in F major, Op. 68, ?Pastorale? (listen to 1st movement here)
