Lets play Cards Against Humanity!

This meetup was practically demanded of me at the last game meetup I held. Billed as a party game for horrible people, and the best selling game on Amazon when it was released).

This game is like Apples to Apples - everyone plays every round, and it takes all of about 2 minutes to teach it. Better yet, it's easy to add folks in, or allow them to drop out due to the dynamics of the game.

I'm hosting it in a bar so that there is no possibility of children being around, but more importantly, none of those childrens overly politically correct parents that want to buzzkill anything fun.

Come, put your worst foot forward and meet everyone else with a sick, twisted, warped - well, ok - FUN sense of humor.

Excellent time. Good fun. A lot of really great and interesting people (that's good interesting). I really liked the table rotation. Thanks John for organizing this meetup event and keeping it going throughout the evening.

We had 80 people show up, and we had 8 games going simultaneously, and we migrated people between the games, and with only one broken glass and one failure on the bars part for an overcharge on a tab, I think it went exceptionally well, in fact, I think that the place could have accommodated 20-30 more of us had more showed up. (and we had enough copies of the game) but what do I know, I was just the host. (though I will say the feedback as people were leaving was good!) THANKS to everyone that came, and special thanks to everyone that brought a copy of the game. I really enjoyed meeting all of you. And yes, I've heard that I should do it again.

I have made arrangements with Beverge place, they know we are coming. Withthe turnout percentage we expect, and the number of people bringing copies of the game (everyone that has a copy basically), it means we should be able to break into groups (about 10 each), and play, and hten switch groups here and htere so that everyone can meet everyone else over the course of the evening. It ought to be fun. I'll see everyone there.

hope tonight was a good time for everyone. John, did you get my email?'

There are too many people. Who is fixing this problem? I don't want to come to something chaotic, that would be a waste of time and gas.

I plan on bringing a deck as well, along with the first two expansions.

I've talked to Beverege place, and there is space, and I've also arranged for a number of copies of the game to be present. We will break into groups of 10-12, and it will only be as chaotic as the game itself is (which is certainly a little bit of chaos right there.)

I's going to be a great fun meet and greet.

I will try to make it... I have the game and all expansions if you need another.

    1 · July 13, 2014

    • John S.

I'm encouraging everyone that has a copy to bring it. That way, no matter how many people show up, if we need a copy, it will be there... So, "Yes Please!"

How many groups are going? I see at least 3 listing the same event now. If I can make it, I have a deck - will rsvp and update once I know how my schedule for next week looks.

with this sign up and the one on the singles group isn't it getting a little out of hand?

    1 · July 4, 2014

    • John S.

Well maybe, but I like out of hand events. Here is what I expect. For the average meetup group only half the people that sign up will actually attend. I know it's shocking to distrust half the people that have signed up and put their reputation on the line that they will, in fact, attend, but it's just a statistical fact. I figure that this will give us (in reality) three tables of 10. I'm planning on making a "house rule" for the event that when you have won three black cards, you must switch to another table. that way everyone will get to play against everyone else. Beverege place has the room for three tables of us playing, so it ought to be fun.

      2 · July 5, 2014

    • Robert

Interesting. Any other house rules? It would definitely keep people meeting people they haven't met before (single or not!). Sounds a bit like Xbox 360's Texas Holdem's diamond, double diamond and triple diamond tables. :P

30 people is a lot. Are you locked in with two more CAH sets?

I'm totally blind, and would like to come to this meetup. Would it be possible for someone to keep an eye out for me that night and make sure I get to the right place?

    July 3, 2014

  • John S.

Well, I have quite a number of folks on another group signed up... so, if anyone has a copy of the game, please bring it, then we can run multiple games at the same time, and trade people between them here and there.

I have to check to see if I can get a half day off (or leave real early) to get from Kirkland to West Seattle before 7pm. I check with management next week as they have taken this whole week off.

I do have a good sized copy. Base game + all 4 expansion packs, Bigger Blacker Box edition, 2012 & 2013 holiday packs and the 90's nostalgia expansion pack. How much room is there at Beverage Place?

      July 2, 2014

    • John S.

I've checked, and on a Tuesday night I saw three or 4 spots that could hold 10 each, so... plenty of room for us to really take over.

this is like, cross-group which means now I *have* to go :)
