Talk #1: Board Games as Systems Abstractions - What board games leave out
Peter Newland

Have you ever played a game of Risk and, in the middle of vying for global domination, wondered "how much is this war costing"? Or maybe where are the background checks and permit applications you didn't need to fill out when attempting to put a few hotels on Boardwalk in Monopoly? If playing a board game about dodgeball, where does the ball go after you throw it? I'll be using these and other games as examples of why "less is more" for board games.

Talk #2: Pokébiology 101
Jennifer McCreight

There may not be a Pikachu Genome Project, but the unusual biology of the Pokémon Universe can teach us about biology in the real world. How do Pokémon species differ from species here on Earth? What does genomic imprinting have to do with breeding? Can an organism like Eevee actually exist? You won't need to be a Pokémon Master or geneticist to catch the concepts, so come, have fun, and grab a beer - it's super effective.

I just misread that as "can an orgasm like Eevee exist?"

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
