Project Night!

We're now meeting once a month to do cool stuff!

Come to meet other Nature Nerds, share your project idea, or join an existing project team.

If you want to share a project with a 2-minute (or less!) project pitch, please send us a message or email at admin [at] nerdsfornature [dot] org.

We've got a bunch of awesome projects underway:

DIY air quality monitoring! Help us figure out how to build, install, use, and share air quality monitors and data. We're especially keen on how to create school programs to teach kids about air pollution, air quality data, and what they can do to use data to influence policy.

Grassroots bioblitzes! We're building an ongoing program of grassroots, citizen science bioblitzes where we use our smartphones and the iNaturalist platform to gather tons of data about the plants, animals, and fungi of local parks. Awesome!

SF Green Map Hey, so SF is the greenest city around, right? Well, where is all that stuff? Help us find it and map it!

Your project? Nerds for Nature is all volunteer, all grassroots. Bring your project ideas!

It was great! We're rolling on plans for our March 29 bioblitz at Crissy Field, April 20 at Tilden Nature Area, May 4 with Greenhairstreak Project in SF, developing a booth for Maker Faire May 17-18, and planning a NatureNerdCon at Oakland Museum sometime this summer. Lots to join in on next time!

Every meeting is better than the last. The IDEAS one hears in brainstorming shout-outs are fantastic, original and brave. I like seeing familiar faces. Talk to "the Drone Dudes" about getting footage for Tigers on Market project.

Just buzz up to the Stamen office, 3rd Floor. They let you in!

Anyone coming from the East Bay want to BART together and chat rather than zone out on an iPhone?

I'm coming from Walnut Creek. You?

I'll be taking BART from Ashby I think around 5:30. I'll look for people. I'll be wearing a red sweater if that helps.

I'll be coming from the Ft. Funston Bay Area Citizen Science Coalition meeting, most likely by car - if anyone wants to carpool... Also, what's the parking situation near Stamen?

There's a garage on Hoff half a block up 16th. Street parking is of course cheaper at night, but I've never tried to do it so can't say how easy or hard it is

Can anyone do a Google Hangout connection? I'd love to attend from Houston TX. Ken put me in a corner two meetings ago, and I got *some* of the discussions. Would love to chat with other AIRPI users (weather station on RaspberryPI). Can anyone do the Hangout setup? It sure saves the carbon footprint (better than me trying to fly or drive out there :-)).

Would love to "attend" remotely (via Google Hangout). Could anyone "host" me (let me be present via your laptop/tablet?). Thanks ...

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
