Play with Twitter - About the Event
Mel is keen that people of all abilities, backgrounds and places of work benefit from twitter and has therefore designed a workshop that will enable even the most fearful of social enterprises and charities to have a go at twitter in a fun, engaging and interactive way. Twitter really can make a difference to your work and your community and it doesn't have to be scary. So come along and try tweeting for the first time in a game-like, interactive format.
As well as learning to tweet, this is a great chance to meet others, share stories and be inspired.
Computers will be available to use at Cambridge Online but if you have a smartphone or tablet then please do feel free to bring them along.
The Twitter hashtag for Net2Camb is #Net2Camb
Tea, coffee & biscuits will be provided by the lovely folks at Cambridge Online.
About the Speaker:
Mel is a Geek for Social Good, keen to share how technology can be used to engage with communities and change lives. She is a self taught social media guru, who has used Twitter to jump start her own business and to promote The You Can Hub, a local social enterprise. With a background in delivering training in the charity field, she has seen the potential that technology has to create social good and is keen to enable others to learn the skills to use it. Mel now works with small and medium businesses, social enterprises and charities to use social media to build relationships, listen and engage with their communities.
Alongside The You Can Hub, Mel puts her time and profits from her own business back into You Can Tech It. This is a project that shows over 65+'s and people with disabilities the benefits of tablets and smartphones as a way to gaining independence and social inclusion. She prides herself on understanding the technology world and bringing it's benefits back to the people who need it most.

Mel is really looking forward to the event, "I can't wait to see more people learning and talking about using technology and social media for social good. Plus, we get to play games and have fun with it!"
