TribeCon 2010: Creating Campfires
Building real communities online and offline
October 28-29 | City Park, New Orleans
It's about an experience.
TribeCon has emerged as Louisiana's premiere social technology conference, held in conjunction with the Voodoo Experience and created to inspire and educate through presentations and panels by amazing speakers, like Baratunde Thurston of The Onion, Ben Huh, creator ofICanHazCheezburger, and Micki Krimmel, founder of Neighborgoods.net.
This year's theme, Creating Campfires, examines the proverbial "campfires" that we build, ignite and rally around - online and offline. Inspired by the joy New Orleans felt with the Saints winning the Superbowl, and the 2010 study ranking Louisiana the #1 happiest state nationwide, this year's theme examines positivity, fun, & joy in communities. You'll learn about what it takes to create, measure and maintain these communities from world-class experts who have built successful careers and organizations doing just that.
With the advent of the digital media tax credit, Louisiana has emerged as a force in social media and software startups. Social technology is ever expanding and changing; keeping up with new information and strategies is vital. TribeCon will be presenting some of the newest information in this field, like "Building Fast-Growth Sales Organizations in a Web 2.0, Community-Centric World," by Don Hazell and "Why Advertising Will Never Light Your Customer's Fire," by Tom Martin. It's all about taking your knowledge and expertise to the next level.
But it isn't all about work! TribeCon balances education in tech & social media with three days of music at the Voodoo Experience. Add in a Sunday Saints game and some Halloween fun and you've got a cocktail for an unforgettable weekend. As part of the Voodoo Experience, TribeCon truly is a world-class conference in a world-class city on one of it's best weekend's of the year.
TribeCon incorporates a day-of-service this year too. On October 23 TribeCon will host a build with the NERDOrleans group from San Francisco hosted by and benefiting the St. Bernard Project.
