Australian Changemakers Festival: How can we 'give back' for #GivingTuesday?

We're joining forces with NetSquared in Adelaide and taking part in the Changemakers Festival!

Join us as we explore what giving looks like in Australia and brainstorm ideas on innovative ways that we can "give back".

Karen Mahlab -CEO of Probono News - will speak about trends in Next Gen giving and activities bubbling away in Australia's "Social Economy".

We'll also learn about a national day of giving coming up on 3 December called "#GivingTuesday."

The plan...

  • 6:00 Introductions
  • 6:15 Karen Mahlab of Probono Australia
  • 6:30 Questions
  • 6:45 #GivingTuesday Brainstorm
    *Introduction to #GivingTuesday
    *Regional Brainstorm
    *Adelaide Presents
    *Melbourne Presents
  • 7:30 Wrap up!

This will be a joint event between NetSquared Adelaide and NetSquared Melbourne thanks to the wonders of the Internet and video conferencing.

About Karen Mahlab
Karen Mahlab established Pro Bono Australia in 1999 as social purpose business. As the major Australian "hub for Good", over 1 million visitors will use Pro Bono Australia's services in 2013 - to volunteer, give, and engage with News and information about Australia's Civil Society.

Karen was named as one of Australias top 100 women of influence in the Inaugural Finanical review/Westpac awards in 2012.

About #GivingTuesday:
#GivingTuesday Australia will be held on 3 December as a national day to celebrate giving. It's a unique event that will unify businesses, not-for-profits, charities, community groups and individuals to show the world how Australia 'gives back.'

About the Changemakers Festival:
The Festival is a celebration of the great work happening in our community, an exploration of the ideas, techniques and technologies that are driving this change, and an invitation for everyone to get involved in creating a better future for their community and our nation.

It's a distributed festival, which means that hundreds of Australia's leading thinkers and organisations will be holding events across every state and territory. There'll be conferences, meetups, startup weekends, webinars, workshops, and plenty more.

Social enterprise and community centres go hand in hand. Looking forward to this one to learn a 21st C approach to what we do

Great news: we'll have Karen Mahlab from Pro Bono Australia guest presenting as part of the evening and she'll be talking about the social economy in Australia.

If you're into social enterprise, it'll be a great chance to learn more from someone who has been active in the social sector for a number of years.

Sounds great, Sue! Can you shoot me an email? You can shoot me an email via my profile here. We'll need a good Internet connection as we may be livestreaming this event in particular.

On another note, I'd love to come and check out Christie Walk sometime.
