Networking SMART meeting - Guest Speaker - How to leverage Social Media

 

This month we have a fantastic guest speaker who will be discussing Social Media:

David Schleifer will give an overview on how to leverage social media regardless of what business you are in. To get the most out of Social Media with the least wasted effort you need to be able to identify achievable goals and understand what it will take to reach them. Once you have a repeatable framework, Social Media can deliver a lot of bang for the buck. Without it, you can find yourself with a task that keeps on growing without delivering results.

David Schleifer Bio: 

A 25-year veteran of the broadcast industry, David Schleifer is currently CEO of FYItag, Inc. He previously held the positions of Vice President of Strategic Planning for Avid Technology, where he built and managed the business strategy for the Media and Entertainment market, and Vice President of Broadcast for Avid where he built and managed Avid’s growth into the broadcast market. Over his career, Schleifer has been responsible for the development and introduction of several products – including the revolutionary Avid Interplay, Avid iNEWS Instinct and products including On-Air Systems, Automation, 3D graphics and Editing solutions.

Schleifer's experience in the industry started at an early age working as a soundman for NBC crews in the Middle East. After majoring in music and fine arts (film and photography) at Hamilton College, Schleifer went to work at New York's WNYC in various capacities: as a cameraman, editor, producer, etc. Over the years, he worked as a at NBC News ripping scripts and delivering wire copy for Tom Brokaw, and at ABC Radio, along with a short stint writing the news for Charles McCord of the Don Imus show. In 1988, Schleifer began working for BASYS, just as the newsroom computer system's business was becoming established as the cornerstone technology for news production. Having worked on early prototypes for nonlinear editing systems, resource management systems and other related products, Schleifer brings a wealth of experience and first-hand understanding of the "inner workings" of news production and broadcast operations.

David has assisted several venture capital funds in their due diligence efforts in the broadcast space, he has been a member of the board of directors for NLT, Non Linear Technology, and he has authored several articles for technical publications, and spoken at various industry conferences including IBC, DTV and SMPTE and others.
