Hiking/snowshoeing at Beaver Brook Route 130 entrance

Host: Claire P.
RAIN CANCELS THIS EVENT!

Weather permitting, I think it would be fun to go hiking on the trails at Beaver Brook in Hollis NH.  Please know that my intent is to enjoy the view of the area, and to chat along the way.  This event is meant more to have fun than to get a workout.  I thought that we would enjoy nature for about two or three hours, with a few breaks/stops along the trail.  This park is just full of beautiful views, so come and enjoy some fresh air, beautiful views, and all this while in good company of friends.

NOTE  !!!THIS IS ON ROUTE 130!!!!We will meet at 1:00 pm in the parking lot entrance for Beaver Brook in Hollis NH, located on Route 130, about 1 ½  or 2 miles after we cross Route 122.

DIRECTIONS:  Take exit 6 from Route 3 (Route 130) and go west towards Brookline, stay on Route 130 (approximately 8 ½ miles) and cross Route 122 (Main St), travel about 1 1/2 or 2 miles until you see the entrance to the park.  Look for the meetup sign or my white Toyota Corolla.

Please remember to bring plenty of fluids and to dress in layers so that you will be comfortable the whole time we are out on the trails.

If anyone cares to, we can then go grab a bite to eat or enjoy a hot chocolate afterwards.

This event is at no cost.   I hope to see you there.

Please RSVP or call my cell @[masked]

Location:  Beaver Brook Park, Rte 130, Hollis NH

Michelle, Slow Pokes Unite !! I'm always slow but I'd much rather be a slow poke than a couch potato, so give yourself credit. You showed up when others did not. Congratulations on good attitude & we hope to have you again.

Great time! And we broke some trails too! Yea! We don't get to do that often! Thanks for joining in the fun!

I'm not sure when my landlord going to plow parking lot. Cleaned off car and shoveled around it. No way my car getting out through this snow. Don't let me hold you up. If I am able to go I will be there on time. Otherwise I am stuck. Have fun. Michelle

My apologies everyone. My earlier post should have said that if the parking lot at Beaver Brook is not plowed out, I will head out to Mine Falls, LINCOLN PARK entrance at the end of Colliseum Drive in Nashua.

How will we know where to go?

      December 14, 2013

Unfortunately I can only say that if you see that the parking lot at Beaver Brook is not cleared, you can head out to Mine Falls if you want to join me there. I don't want to miss out on the fun of breaking trails with my snow shoes, but my car does not do well in deep snow! So if we get a lot of snow and the parking lot is not cleared, I will have to go with option 2. Crossing my fingers that the lot at Beaver Brook will be plowed.

Depends on road conditions for me. Michelle

Well we definitely will have snow tomorrow. Depending on how the storm goes, I may or may not be able to it.
Claire do you mean Lincoln Park - behind Hannafords?

    December 14, 2013

    • Claire P

Yes, I meant Lincoln Park. Sorry!

I need to warn everyone that I cannot guarantee the parking lot will be plowed out in time for this event. One can only hope. I will try to get there a half hour early to see what the condition of the lot is. If not plowed out, I will go to Mine Falls/Livingston Park entrance and hike/snowshoe there, instead. If you want to do the same, that will be great!

Thank you so much. Do I wear regular snow boots with them?

    December 12, 2013

    • Steve O.

Wear boots that you would use in the snow. We may get there, and find snowshoes are not needed.

I don't have any snowshoes and just lost my job. Where can I get a reasonable deal on snowshoes and I never tried it so what kind should I get. Michelle

I have an extra pair of snowshoes that you may use. Also Big Lots have snowshoes for around $50.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
