Thanks for the plug of my group too!  .... The Boston Singles Meetup!  It's all in good networking!  And I feel that the money I spend to run the group is worth it to meet a lot of new people!  And sure, every once in a while, people chip in to buy me dinner or a drink, which is a nice gesture, but I don't expect it.

We should plan a multi-group activity for this summer at a state park.  Any interest in that?

Cheers!

Hi Robert,
I wanted to thank you for the nice plug for our Concord Metrowest
Group. I totally agree with you about charging money for events. Not
only was I worried that people would think it was more of a business
than an honest gathering of people but I also was concerned about what
kind of liability that might put me in if anyone ever got hurt at an
event that I organized. I know of one group, not associated with
meetups, that had a person fall in someone's house at a potluck and
sued the home owner for "alot" of money...it would be a shame if
something like that spoiled the good times for everyone. Just another
nice note though, when my members discovered that I actually pay for
the meetup and refused to take money they said that they each wanted
to buy me a drink at the upcoming events. I thought that was a nice
gesture...so if we ever meet, I'll be the one who is probably tipsy,
ha ha. :-)
