Hiking Cannon Mt , Saturday February 23th.
We will hike either the Hi-Cannon trail (2.8mi accent) or Kinsman Ridge Trail via Lonesome Lake trail (3.1 mi accent) and may even make a loop depending on trail conditions. I expect the hike to take approximately 5 hours depending on the route we take.
I will try to limit the group size to 8. Everyone will be waitlisted so I can get a feel for how prepared you are for this hike. I will require a phone number for last minute communications if needed. Please RSVP before Friday at 7 PM.
I expect to stop by the Woodstock Inn for some ”refueling” after the hike.
This is an intermediate hike, you are responsible for yourself and are expected to have all necessary winter gear and clothing. For your reference if you need it is a link to AMC’s list for Essential Winter Gear for Northeastern Hikes, http://www.outdoors.org/publications/outdoors/2002/2002-winter-gear.cfm
I am from NH and have posted this on Meetup and MOAC sites. Carpool leaving from LL Bean Parking lot in Concord NH at 8:30AM. Meet at the trail head at Lafayette Campground at 9:45AM. On the trail by 10:00 AM. I can help coordinate carpooling from Maine by sharing your email with others from Maine if you ask me to in your email.
I will have my black lab Bond with me. I will allow other dogs as long as they are well behaved, in shape, and have done similar winter hikes.
I will be bringing my butt sled, but be warned, there are some steep sections, any of which could be hazardous.
I am working on finishing my winter 4Ks this year, if you are interested in joining me just ask, I will send you my tentative schedule of hikes.
