Hiking Galehead, and the Twins, Saturday March 16th.
We will start at Beaver Brook and traverse through to Little River Road, approximately 14.1 miles.
Everyone will be waitlisted so I can get a feel for how prepared you are for this hike. I will require a phone number for last minute communications if needed. Please RSVP before Thursday March 14 at 7 PM, earlier is better. This hike is very dependent on good weather conditions. I am limiting this hike to about 10 people.
I will have my black lab Bond with me. I will allow other dogs as long as they are well behaved, in shape, and have done similar winter hikes.
I will be bringing my butt sled but am not sure what the trail conditions may be.
This is a moderate to advanced hike, you are responsible for yourself and are expected to have all necessary winter gear and clothing. For your reference if you need it is a link to AMC’s list for Essential Winter Gear for Northeastern Hikes, http://www.outdoors.org/publications/outdoors/2002/2002-winter-gear.cfm
I am from NH and have posted this on Meetup and MOAC sites and will try to allow members from both to attend. I could carpool from LL Bean Parking lot in Concord NH or other points. I may consider leaving a little earlier and having a good breakfast in Twin Mtn before starting. I can help coordinate carpooling from Maine by sharing your email with others from Maine if you ask me to in your email.
I would need someone to arrive a little earlier to spot a car on Little river road.
I would like to stop at the Woodstock in or other establishment for post hike “refueling”
