Name a trail, All hikers are welcome to choose a hike.

For those of us that are less fit, hiking is fantastic conditioning, but that stress level is hit much faster so replacement drinks are advised. Nuun, Powerade Zero, and Gatorade all make a good sugar free version for those who are controlling their sugar.

It was fun, but cold and windy starting off in the parking lot starting out and at the top, but it was fun and the three of us felt we did well. I am learning more tips for climbing in the winter.

This hike is still on right? Is anyone leading this, or are we kinda on our own?

Doesn't look like there's an official leader but I'm still planning to be there. I've been on Mt. Pierce 5 times, it's a relatively easy hike for a 4000-footer. We shouldn't have any problems, although from a couple of trail condition reports I've read, some kind of traction like Microspikes is recommended.

Who is leading this hike? Just curious. Can I get a cell # incase of problems? Thanks

Hi Diane - Thanks for giving the opportunity to pick a hike :) Can we attempt to hike Mt Whiteface and Mt Passaconaway using Blueberry Ledge Trail, Rollins Trail, and Dicey's Mill Trail. Let us know? It's 11.9 miles with 3800 feet of elevation gain. Thanks!!

Very informational Teri... IMO, worth way more than 4 cents :)

I would not try whiteface this time of year. you are really hanging on in a few spots. We had trouble on Welsh Dickey on a wet day and I thought - thank goodness we were not hiking whiteface.

SO WHERE DID YOU GUYS DECIDE YOU WERE HIKING? Cabot is the farthest hike allow 3 hours to get there. Pierce would be my pick to send you up safely on unknown ground conditions. list it in the title and location to avoid confusion. I hope to start back in December- but really slowly after I master going bACK TO WORK

So where is this destination? Has it been decided? Looking to finish my 4K's by March. Are more people allowed?

I have also heard that Pierce, Tecumseh, and Osceola are the easier winter hikes (Hale too, but I did that a couple of weeks ago ;-))

I've just signed for this adventure on 25th. While we don’t have a knowledgeable leader and we’ll be out in winter conditions, I would suggest an alternative to a 12 mile hike. A shorter trail about 3 hour round trip, with one but great view from the top of a mountain. It is at Crawford Notch, Mount Willard. Trailhead starts behind the old train depot at the top of Crawford’s notch on Route 302. You can Google this mount and trail location, and you can find lots of images from this mountain by switching your search engine option from Web to Images.

    October 25, 2012

I thought so but I didn't get the "MX" part. Perfect! That's exactly what I'm looking for! Thanks!

I just had major surgery, so I wont add myself to the hike until I know I'm cleared for hiking. so first one to pick a hike gets their pick of the trails!
